Rookie Training/Fresh Brews
If you’re 21 or older and think you have what it takes to play roller derby, you’re in the right place!
Let us know you are interested. Email recruitment@brewcitybruisers.
Start training to become member! The most important thing you can do is put on some skates and start skating. We also have great recreational derby opportunities with our boot camps (see below) and the Brewcity Bootleggers.
Get involved! Volunteering with the league is a great way to learn about how the Brewcity Bruisers work and play in the community and great opportunity to “rub elbows” with our great members. Use this volunteer form to contact our director of volunteers. All of our members are volunteers!
What to expect
All of our Bruisers pay monthly dues, attend 2-3 practices per week and volunteer within the league. Being a member means helping run this league (and a lot of hard work) but what you’ll gain can change your life!
Boot Camp Dates:
Our upcoming boot camps will be held on the following Saturdays: April 13 (5:30 pm – 8:30 pm) and June 29 (time TBD). Email recruitment@brewcitybruisers.
Check out our Derby Gear Sponsors page for all your gear needs!
Other Important Dates for 2013 Rookies:
So, you’ve done all of the above and you’re ready really to commit? Here are some dates to mark into your calendar! Sorry, we work on a tight schedule, so there are no make-up opportunities for any of these required dates.
- Pre-Try Out Orientation: Sunday, June 23rd (time TBD) – This is a 2 hour meeting where we will review what you can expect at try outs, what it takes to be a Brewcity Bruiser, and answer questions so you’re at ease when preparing to do the craziest thing in your life! (Um, that’s playing roller derby, of course…)
- Official Try Outs: Sunday, July 14th (time TBD) – This is a 2 hour, on-skates, make-it-or-break-it session where you show us what you got! Don’t worry—there’s no contact at this point, just show us your skating skills, your amazing attitude, and let us do the rest!
- Post Try Out Orientation: Sunday, July 21st (time TBD) – This is another 2 hour meeting (get used to these) where we induct you as a Brewcity Bruiser Fresh Brew, you sign your life away along with your first child, and we get you mentally ready for Fresh Brew Training!
- Fresh Brew Training Begins first week of August. Practice days/times are still TBD, but check back soon as they should be settled in the near future. Expect to give Sunday mornings and one week night to your roller derby career.
