She’ll School Your Ass!
This is my fourth year with the Shevil Knevils. In grade school, I dabbled in volleyball, softball, and cheerleading, but my main focus was always gymnastics. I kept up with gymnastics until my sophomore year of high school. After that, I didn’t do anything athletic until I found roller derby in May 2011. Now I’ve added some yoga and running for cross-training purposes.
Worst Derby Injury
So far, I’ve been very lucky and have not had a major derby injury. *knocks on wood* I got “dead-legged” once, which sucked pretty bad for about a week, and whiplash. And there have been plenty of bumps and bruises to go around. My favorite one looked like a skate on my arm! Right now I am not skating because of the “nine month” derby injury 😉
Proudest Derby Moment
As of right now, my proudest derby moment was being drafted to the Shevils! Additionally, there have been some “lightbulb” moments at practices or scrimmages where something finally clicked. I’ve also recently stopped hating jamming as much as I used to, which is nice.
