Becoming a Rollergirl
Are you 21 or older, female, and interested in becoming a Brewcity Bruiser?
Where do I Start?
- Let us know you are interested!
E-mail recruitment@brewcitybruisers.com with your name and phone number. We will e-mail you regularly with important dates, updates and other ways to be involved until your training begins!
- Start Training!
Get on your skates and start practicing! Check out our Fresh Brew section to see our list of suggested equipment and list of local rinks.
- Start volunteering!
You can get a good idea of league life and actually see how we work by volunteering. If you are interested, please send us your information at volunteers@brewcitybruisers.com.
What to Expect?
We accept roller girls of all skating abilities, but basic skating experience is desired. We will train you on how to fall, recover, take and give hits and of course how to play the game. There will be a minimum skills requirement test you must pass to be eligible for the Brewcity Bruiser annual draft.
If you make it, you can expect...
- to pay monthly dues
- to attend at least 2-3 practices per week
- to attend one monthly league meeting per month
- to pay for upkeep of equipment (skates, pads, helmet, uniforms, etc)
- to work hard, and have a fabulous set of legs and bum
- to have a ton of fun and be around wonderful, supportive, and hard core athletes
Are you interested in roller derby but don't have the time or skills to commit?
Did you just retire and want to keep your skatin' legs? Are you looking for a new sports challenge? Check our our year-round skating opportunities with the Brewcity Bruisers Recreational Derby team, the Lite Brews! This is a great way to gain important skills while waiting for BCB tryouts in the summer and become an active part of the league, no matter what your commitment level is! This opportunity is open for women, 18 years and older.
Roller Derby Boot Camps
This is a pre-requisite to the Lite Brews program and is for women new to quad roller skates and need to learn the basic fundamentals of roller skating. This is a one-day 3 hour class where you will master your form, strides, crossovers, balance, control as you fall and recover - all while focusing on safety first. There is absolutely no contact at our Boot Camps, but you will get quite a work out and leave wanting more! Upon completion of a Boot Camp, you may be cleared to join Lite Brews 101.
Boot Camp Dates:
Saturday, Jan 21
Saturday, Feb 18
