Just because the 2012 home season is done, doesn’t mean our derby skaters are just lounging around. Besides the dozens who are competing with the All-Stars and Battlestars, there are 16 ladies who hope to become Brewcity Bruisers soon.
These new skaters made it through tryouts earlier this month and hope to be drafted to one of the four home teams on Oct. 21.

As of right now, the Brewcity Bruisers only have about nine spots available league wide. That could rise if skaters decide not to return. So if any of the ladies going through Fresh Brew training aren’t drafted as a rostered skater or a red shirt they can try out again next year.

“It’s very competitive and to get a spot on a team you have to prove that you are really deserving,” said Blue Siren, who is coordinating training for the Fresh Brews this summer.

Wish these girls luck! The vets return for training on Sept. 23.

Also two skaters who had taken breaks for a year, Melba Toastya and Beat Around the Bush, will be returning to the Rushin’ Rollettes. And Ms. Pac-Man returns to the Maidens after having a baby!
